Question/Problem
Troubleshooting: When I go to my domain in a browser, I see my username.fatcow.com instead. Why is this happening?

Answer/Solution
One common cause of this problem is that your domain may be hosted with company other than FatCow and may still resolve to the old platform. As part of our recent platform upgrade, we have switched from an IP-based system to a name-based system, and the old IP for your site is being retired.

The username.fatcow.com URL is available by default for all our customers. To maintain continuity of service, when the old webserver receives a request for a customer whose site has been upgraded, it redirects the traffic to the new platform. It *can't* redirect to the full domain, because it would be redirecting to itself - so it redirects to the subdomain.

If you experience this, we recommned that you contact your registrar to switch DNS hosting to FatCow. We will route your domain to the correct destination - and keep it that way in the future. If you prefer to have another company host your domain, please contact them to add the new IP to the zonefile. Instructions for doing this are available in our Knowledgebase.
