Email Client Setup: Mozilla Thunderbird

Now you can get your FatCow email using Mozilla Thunderbird.

You will need your incoming mail server, outgoing mail server, full email address, and your email password. You can find these settings by logging into your Mail Central.

  1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird.
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Click Account Settings.
  4. Click Account Actions.
  5. Select Add Mail Account.
  6. Fill in the following information:
    • Your Name: How you want your name to appear in emails (example: John Smith)
    • Email Address: Your full email address (example: john@your-domain.com)
    • Password: Your email password
    • Remember password: We recommend that you keep this checked.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Click Manual Config.
  9. Fill in the following information:
    • Your Name: How you want your name to appear in emails (example: John Smith)
    • Email Address: Your full email address (example: john@your-domain.com)
    • Password: Your mailbox password
    • Incoming (Type): POP
    • Incoming Server Hostname: pop.fatcow.com
    • Incoming Port: 110
    • Incoming SSL: Your preference. If you choose SSL/TLS, change Incoming Port to 995.
    • Incoming Authentication: We recommend Normal password.
    • Outgoing Server Hostname: smtp.fatcow.com
    • Outgoing Port: 587
    • Outgoing SSL: Your preference. If you choose SSL/TLS, change Outoing Port to 465.
    • Outgoing Authentication: We recommend Normal password.
  10. Click Create Account to complete the set-up.
  11. Additional optional settings are available to further personalize your Thunderbird email client. Please refer to Thunderbird's support site for help with these settings.

    • Incoming Authentication: We recommend Normal password.
    • Outgoing Server Hostname: smtp.fatcow.com
    • Outgoing Port: 587
    • Outgoing SSL: Your preference. If you choose SSL/TLS, have the outgoing server and port reflect their appropriate SSL settings.
    • Outgoing Authentication: We recommend Normal password.
  10. Click Create Account to complete the set-up.
  11. Additional optional settings are available for you to configure in order to further personalize your Thunderbird email client. We advise you to refer to Thunderbird's support site for help with these settings.
